My cultivated Blacberry has completed its cropping. Time to prune and train.
First all this years fruiting wood is removed right to ground level.
Next this years growth which will fruit next year is pruned and trained in to the vertical support. Although thick the stem is flexible and can be bent serpentine fashion secured with strong nylon cord or insulated wire.

Jolly good, I didn't mention the spurs, which were pruned back in the last post on the blackberry, you can see those in the photos 100 to 150mm long. The buds on those will burst into flowering shoots in the spring.
It beats an uncontrollable mess all over the ground which is what would happen if left untrained.
