I normally say that the Greenhouse Grapes and the Tomatoes last almost to Xmas.
It is usually about two weeks before the shortest day when the frosts put an end to the foliage and bring the Grapes to a close. So today after temperatures of -3C overnight in the greenhouse I cut the last bunch.

Time then to tidy up and prune. A pleasant job in the sunshine. It is quite a brutal process of cutting back all this years growth to one or two buds. Only one is needed but for safety just like roses, we prune back and leave two buds, so if we get any die back and lose the second bud we still have the first.

Grape bark is thick and stringy, an ideal hiding place for pests and diseases. Without over doing it quite a bit can be peeled off in order to leave the vine clean and tidy. I have left a peeled back length on the right for the photograph.

Interesting post Charles, I do not have a heated green house so there is a much shorter life to my toms, presumably, should you be able to control the heat/light year round you could plant at any time of the year, in fact on a regular basis to provide fruit at any time.
Grapes I know nothing about except burying a dead dog at the roots.
